A Deliverability Score is like a grade for email addresses, from 0 to 100. It tells you how deliverable a message to that address. We look at lots of things about the email to give it a score. A high score means it's highly deliverable, and a low score means it might be not deliverable.
This score helps companies see which emails might cause problems and fix them right away before running email campaigns.
The Deliverability Score shows up super fast, as soon as someone checks an email. This is great for salespeople who need to know if an email is deliverable right now. It helps keep their email lists clean and healthy by removing bad emails quickly.
0 = Undeliverable
1 - 79 = Might Deliver.
80 - 100 = Deliverable.
This is a quick summary of what we think the email address status is. This can result in four main states deliverable, undeliverable, risky, and unknown.
Deliverable: We are highly confident the email address is associated with a valid, active account.
Reason: The email address exists and is accepting messages (Accepted Email).
Undeliverable: We are highly confident the email address is not associated with a valid, active account.
Reason 1 (Invalid Email): The email address has incorrect syntax (e.g., missing @ symbol, invalid characters).
Reason 2 (Invalid Domain): The domain part of the email address (e.g., @example.com) does not exist, is invalid, or is not accepting email.
Reason 3 (Rejected Email): The receiving mail server explicitly rejected the email address as
nonexistent.
Reason 4 (Invalid SMTP): The receiving mail server gave an unexpected or invalid response during the connection attempt.
Risky: These emails appear deliverable but should be used cautiously due to potential quality or deliverability issues.
Reason 1 (Low Quality): The email address has characteristics that suggest it may be less valuable or more likely to cause problems (e.g., spam traps, role accounts).
Reason 2 (Low Deliverability): While the email seems to be deliverable, we cannot guarantee it will reach the inbox consistently.
Unknown: We cannot determine the email address's validity because the associated domain's mail server is not responding.
Reason 1 (No Connect): We could not establish a connection to the mail server.
Reason 2 (Timeout): The connection attempt to the mail server or a DNS lookup timed out.
Reason 3 (Unavailable SMTP): The mail server was temporarily unavailable to handle our request.
Reason 4 (Unexpected Error): An unforeseen error occurred during the verification process.
"Risky" emails are those with either low quality or low deliverability. While they might technically exist, they often experience technical problems indicating very low mailbox engagement. We label them "risky" because they can negatively impact the quality of your email campaigns.
Should you send emails to "Risky" addresses?
Even though some emails in this category might still be deliverable, we advise caution when emailing any address marked "Risky." These addresses may be Accept-All, Disposable, or Role accounts. If you're unfamiliar with these terms, keep reading.
Accept-All: These addresses initially accept mail for any username at the domain, but the emails may not actually reach a real inbox. This can also result in bounces (delivery failure notifications sent back to the sender).
Disposable: These are often created by users who don't want to provide their main email address. They are classified as "Risky" because they are temporary and only valid for a short time.
Role: These addresses typically represent a function or department rather than a specific individual (e.g., support@ or info@) and are often managed by multiple people. These emails are frequently associated with higher bounce rates, more unsubscribes, and lower engagement.
Each email list is unique, and each company has its own tolerance for emailing addresses not definitively classified as "Deliverable."
We recommend considering the age and source of your data to make a more informed decision about whether to keep or remove emails categorized as "Risky."
We analyze whether the given email address is associated with any temporary emails and we check whether the mailbox of the given email is full or not. This adds an extra layer od filtering to clean your emails in monday and reach to the right email.
Temporary emails, created through temporary email providers, carry inherent risks like increased susceptibility to spam and phishing. These emails are temporary and expire after a set time. Sending critical information or data to these addresses puts your organization at risk and exposes your servers and legitimate email addresses.
A full mailbox is a common problem where a recipient's inbox becomes full, causing their server to reject incoming emails. Checking for this beforehand ensures your email campaigns are optimized and have a much higher chance of reaching the inbox.
